What’s been happening this week

I always forget about these little gems until they bloom and for the life of me I can’t remember the name of them either. They are sweet flowers that move in the breeze.
Lobelia is so beautiful to me and looks especially lovely with the silver falls greenery. I know I have shown you my porch pots, but you haven’t enjoyed them close up yet.
The lobelia with the begonia is stunning too!
I have seven of these 5 X 7 gallery wrapped canvases and wanted to do something lively with them. I chose to do a study in color that evokes emotions. As of right now I have some art shows coming up. Three in August so far, one that I am waitlisted for in September and then one that is going ahead. One for sure in October. All local except the waitlisted one and it is in Michigan. I buckled down and started some new pieces like the ones above along with a couple of others.

The art shows in August are Bloomfest in Leo, IN…Covington Art Show in Fort Wayne, and Satak Winery in Fremont, IN. I have them listed on my home page.

In other art news, I dropped off a couple of paintings that were accepted into the Wassenberg Art Show in Van Wert Ohio. Here is the link to it, and the show opens on the 19th. I feel honored to be a part of it.

This is a tree swallow that balances itself on a nail that I have for my Christmas Lights. here on my front porch and at times I see grass in the beak and it would like to build a nest on that nail. Just not do-able my little winged friend. When I sit out there in the morning I have three flying around, swooping and flying over and over. On the back porch they have built two nests and they do a lot of swooping and flying back there too. Their flying ability is amazing. The first nest which we left up there from last year, I am sure had eggs but they didn’t hatch. In fact I found one discarded on the cement and wonder if it got kicked out. It is positioned too high for predators or wind. So then they have built a second nest and I kind of think that there is a new set of eggs. They are just a busy bunch but they can just forget about a nest in the front.

My two friends and I keep in touch with an app called Marco Polo. It has been quite fun to be able to tell each other about things and show stuff like gardens and purchases. It is a great way to stay in touch.

I leave you with this easy recipe from my friend Theresa. She loves to cook and is a go to person for everything from recipes to gadgets. I tried it the other night and it was great.

Easy Way to Make Rice
Preheat oven to 400 degrees

Chop up a carrot and one stalk of celery and an onion if you so desire. I used onion powder because Kevin doesn’t like onions.

Melt three to four Tablespoons of butter in a large saucepan.
Add the chopped vegetables to sauté them along with salt and pepper
Rinse one cup of rice and add it to the sautéed veggies and stir until the butter is mixed in with the rice then add the can of chicken broth.

Put in the oven, covered for 16 minutes. Perfect rice!

Hope you enjoy

Movies I’ve watched this week
