Original Art – Pink Tulips

I am reintroducing paintings that I haven’t shown in a while and todays mixed media work is Pink Tulips. I created it one late winter day in anticipation of spring. The tulips are layered wallpaper painted over with acrylic paint. behind the flowers is various floral pieces of wallpaper with a white wash. The wallpaper leaves have dash marks made with a permanent ink pen. Some stencils are used along with sponges for interest. The quote is from Lucy Maude Montgomery who is the author of the Anne of Green Gables books. If you would love to add this to your collection please contact me.

Original Art For Sale – Aim for the Moon

I made this painting three years ago and so many people say they love it, but the right person hasn’t come along yet to give it a good home. It took quite a while to make because the wings on many of the birds are strips of wallpaper. All the birds are made with wallpaper but I then painted over areas. The owls are, from top to bottom….Great Horned, Snowy, Barn, Saw-Whet and Burrowing with adolescent. The burrow is made with molding paste and acrylic paint. The size is 18 X 24 gallery wrapped canvas. If you are interested and would like to talk about this painting please contact me.

A wise old owl sat on an oak, the more he saw the less he spoke. The less he spoke, the more he heard. Why can’t we all be like that bird?

Today is World Bee Day, it is bringing attention to the important pollinators of the world.

I Needed Flowers

This painting was made during the coldest, cold snap that I can remember and that was on record for our area. One day I needed to paint some flowers and started grabbing some colors. They turned out to be the primarys and those make such bright happy pictures. Something that would surely brighten your wall. The original is just a 6 X 6 canvas with 1 1/2 sides. I paint flowers on all four of the sides and it is so fun. I will be uploading the prints to my shop. When they are available the prints can be purchased in three sizes. a 4 X 6 blank note card, a 10.5 X 10.5 print and 7.5 X 7.5 print.

A Little Bunny Love

The second little 5 X 5 that I completed today. This also is a repurposed canvas from 2016 and the title is “A little bunny Love”. Once I get it uploaded into my store, it can be purchased in a notecard, 7.5 X 7.5 print and a 10.5 X 10.5 print. Here is the link if you would like to look around.

Surviving the Cold

Throughout the day I am going to share my paintings that I have been working on since our cold, cold snap. Our temps are going up today and even though it was way too cold, it was so sunny. That was deceiving. Yesterday one of my cats was putting up a fuss at the window and there was a little bird all huddled against the house with the feathers ruffling in the wind. I was afraid it was dead but luckily it was close to my dryer vent. I turned on the dryer to see if it would get warmed up. Eventually it started moving his head, then standing up and then it flew off, hopefully finding a little warmer spot. Sunday it is supposed to be 50 degrees! Crazy but welcome. This little painting, I am repurposing. I used this canvas in 2015 and decided that it could be better. It had a little birds nest so I turned it into a fox burrow and I had planned to do a curled up fox so here it is, “Fox Burrow”. I love that background green, it is from Target and called Seaweed. I have been building my inventory for the art fair shows. My season starts in April and I have lots of ideas.

Two Brand New Paintings

Lavender and White Poinsettias- Torn paper flowers along with orange and red florescent flowers. Green leaves line painted with acrylic ink. Poinsettias also outlined with acrylic ink. A bold background with magenta and pink paint. Graphic circles on the background and a wallpaper vase with graphic dots in different sizes.

This red dancing star on a paynes grey background with texture. The star has it’s gold finery on for the holidays. A green garland floating around the dancing star with gold leaf and red berries.

Both of these paintings can be used year round depending on your decor. They don’t need to just come out at the holidays. They are also originals where you will not find copies in stores.  Very unique products.
Fine art prints make great gifts also. The sizes that these are printed, make it easy to frame them in ready made mattes and frames. Take a look at the store. Here is the link. Remember to shop small and buy local.

Poppy

This brilliant poppy has just been added to my store. It would definitely make an awsome statement on your wall. It is aptly titled Live Out Loud. Hang it on a dark wall, a white wall. It would say WOW and make you happy as you walk by. Additionally a white matte and frame or a black matte and frame would both work. It is sized to easily fit in ready made mattes and frames. Check it out in my store.

Revamping an early canvas

This is an early canvas that had some damage to the pieces that were attached. I decided that instead of it just sitting in a box I would revamp it. There are still some elements on it but it is getting an almost complete makeover.

I love Prussian Blue and iridescent gold paint. I received some wallpaper books and had the best time picking out the papers for the petals. I love the texture of the swirls, it adds to the pizazz of it.

The scallops have been brightened and extends to both sides. The line painting at the bottom also extends to the sides. I have some other elements to add but it will soon be in the shop to purchase a print or a note card. I am happy with the redo and think it is cheerful.
