Two Brand New Paintings

Lavender and White Poinsettias- Torn paper flowers along with orange and red florescent flowers. Green leaves line painted with acrylic ink. Poinsettias also outlined with acrylic ink. A bold background with magenta and pink paint. Graphic circles on the background and a wallpaper vase with graphic dots in different sizes.

This red dancing star on a paynes grey background with texture. The star has it’s gold finery on for the holidays. A green garland floating around the dancing star with gold leaf and red berries.

Both of these paintings can be used year round depending on your decor. They don’t need to just come out at the holidays. They are also originals where you will not find copies in stores.  Very unique products.
Fine art prints make great gifts also. The sizes that these are printed, make it easy to frame them in ready made mattes and frames. Take a look at the store. Here is the link. Remember to shop small and buy local.

Poppy

This brilliant poppy has just been added to my store. It would definitely make an awsome statement on your wall. It is aptly titled Live Out Loud. Hang it on a dark wall, a white wall. It would say WOW and make you happy as you walk by. Additionally a white matte and frame or a black matte and frame would both work. It is sized to easily fit in ready made mattes and frames. Check it out in my store.

Revamping an early canvas

This is an early canvas that had some damage to the pieces that were attached. I decided that instead of it just sitting in a box I would revamp it. There are still some elements on it but it is getting an almost complete makeover.

I love Prussian Blue and iridescent gold paint. I received some wallpaper books and had the best time picking out the papers for the petals. I love the texture of the swirls, it adds to the pizazz of it.

The scallops have been brightened and extends to both sides. The line painting at the bottom also extends to the sides. I have some other elements to add but it will soon be in the shop to purchase a print or a note card. I am happy with the redo and think it is cheerful.

Artsy news

This weekend, September 22 is Art at the Riverside in Leo Indiana. I grabbed this picture off the website and it must have been taken by a drone. It is a great show, you can see the parking then cross Schwartz road, the food trucks and live music then the artists. My tent is the very last one one the point at the bottom. Booth #16 I am looking forward to Saturday….I have seen two temps. 67 degrees or 74 degrees and sunny!!! Come out, see us, buy some one of a kind art. Riverside Gardens, Leo Indiana, 14701 Schwartz Road. 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.

I will be bringing this painting out this Saturday. I have been saving it but decided to make it available. “Evening on the Porch.

Vincolet Art and Wine Festival, Sept. 8 and 9, 2018. This was my view on friday, Sept. 7 while putting up the tent. Just a beautiful place. I was so looking forward to this show. Only 60 artists but a great following, and I understand customers make a point to come to this show.

Hurricane Gordon decided to dump his rain on the Cincinnati area. We had a few brave souls walking around but the rain just was coming down very steadily. They closed the show at 5pm and I went to get the car and it was stuck in the field.

I had to disengage the traction control and it took 5 men to push it out, the ground was that saturated. Last year, I was doing St. James Court in Louisville and another hurricane decided to stay over the show on Sunday flooding our booths, what were the chances? Oh the life of an art fair artist. My helper Margaret and I were happy to report that no art or prints were damage, that is a success story.

These grapes were very aromatic.

Right now I have a gallery show and sale at the Juxtapose shop in Elkhart. It will be up through the first week of October. It opened on the 13th of September and I was delighted to be there. It was for the monthly Elkhart Art Walk. This is my art in the front window.

The others hanging in the shop. All the originals, prints and cards are for sale. The address for Juxtapose is 208 South Main Street, Elkhart, IN. Very cute shop!

I am an animal lover. This painting…Unconditional Love…..was created as the partner for Cat Love. This is a limited edition print up to 2000 and for every 10.5 X 10.5 print sold I give Animal Care and Control $5.00. The print can be found in my shop. During the Three Rivers Art in the Park I had a person stop in my tent who is from the Black Pine Animal Sanctuary. She had mentioned that they have many items that can be used from the animal, like snake skins and bear fur which caught my interest and could be used for a mixed media painting.. She mentioned that they are also having a fundraiser called Lions and Tigers and Beer in October. I will be picking up the wild animal ephemera and dropping off a print for their auction.

Cat Love-the partner to Unconditional Love. Click here to purchase.

The idea using the bear fur and snake skin came from this painting….That’s Life….This is an actual abandoned birds nest from my bushes. It had been abandoned and it just needed to be added into a painting. I will let you know what I come up with. Click here to purchase.

I have added a Holiday Show, Le Chic Holiday Market for Nov./December. It will be at the Coliseum on Nov. 30/December 1.

Bunny Pillow, crocus, johnny jump ups, paintings

I fell in love with this bunny pillow while shopping at my local Kroger grocery. At Christmas there was a snowman pillow that I had looked at so many times and put back down. When all of them were bought I was irritated with myself for not buying it. The conservative brain kept saying “you are spending for Christmas, not for yourself”….you understand, but I have decided to relieve myself of that mindset. the minute I saw this sweet bunny face I snatched it up, put it in the cart with no second thoughts. I look forward to summer. Who would have thunk to pick up your pillows at the grocery???

This corner was naked too long, so I brought out the teal and blue painting. I have had so many customers think, and ponder about this painting but not purchase it. I am going to leave it there for a while, it really brightens that spot up and also picks up colors from the antique grandmothers flower garden quilt. The painting is still for sale. It is 24 X 24 and is $250.00. Just send a message if you have a question or are interested.

So desperately wanting some warm weather. We have a forecast tonight of some rain mixing with some $)*%!!! The plants are not giving up though. A few years ago I took 2 or 3 packages of johnny jump up seeds and threw them out in the landscaping. They multiply and become like a bed of moss. I even get some blooms in the winter. I suspect when it gets just remotely warm those little faces will be popping up everywhere.

Oh my, the crocuses are pretty. When there is some sun they open their petals and soak it up. In the evening they close up shop again. I need to make a point to plant more for next year.

Such a happy yellow!

The new day-lily leaves are popping up through the old, brown, shriveled ones of last year.

This suncatcher, that is in the studio window would reflect on a blank canvas that was on an easel. One early morning I finally paid attention to it,the yard light was giving it the reflection component so it was quite early in the morning.

I decided to trace it and do a painting because it was so neat. Here it is in the early stages. Thinking about adding some bronze paint and flowers twisting around the rays.

This is my very favorite gold in the whole world. Golden brand, Iridescent Bright gold fine. Check back for updates. Happy Easter and warm weather wishes to you.

New Art-Joyfully Flying

This is Lauryn, and today I delivered her original canvas painting that she ordered. She loves hummingbirds and then after some brainstorming we decided on a sunflower and a poppy.

We also determined that she like quotes to my happiness! I found a perfect one that works so well with this painting. The author of the quote….Amethyst Wyldfyre (I love this spelling!) Was talking about a hummingbird. The piece of the quote that I used is: I fly joyfully through my days, seeing beauty everywhere.

The canvas size was 6X6 so I was able to put the quote on two of the sides. I enjoy sides decorated too, so it worked out really well.

I had the sunflower drape around the one side and I used my favorite Iridescent Bright Gold by Golden to outline, gave it some zing!

The poppy was draping over a corner which made it interesting. I feel that I got the most out of this 6 X 6 canvas.

This print is listed in my etsy shop now and I have it in two sizes. 11 X 11 to fit a 12 X 12 frame… or…. 7 1/2 X 7 1/2 to fit a 12 X 12 frame with an 8 X 8 matte. It’s a happy painting and I sure enjoyed doing it for her!
