I am reintroducing paintings that I haven’t shown in a while and todays mixed media work is Pink Tulips. I created it one late winter day in anticipation of spring. The tulips are layered wallpaper painted over with acrylic paint. behind the flowers is various floral pieces of wallpaper with a white wash. The wallpaper leaves have dash marks made with a permanent ink pen. Some stencils are used along with sponges for interest. The quote is from Lucy Maude Montgomery who is the author of the Anne of Green Gables books. If you would love to add this to your collection please contact me.
I made this painting three years ago and so many people say they love it, but the right person hasn’t come along yet to give it a good home. It took quite a while to make because the wings on many of the birds are strips of wallpaper. All the birds are made with wallpaper but I then painted over areas. The owls are, from top to bottom….Great Horned, Snowy, Barn, Saw-Whet and Burrowing with adolescent. The burrow is made with molding paste and acrylic paint. The size is 18 X 24 gallery wrapped canvas. If you are interested and would like to talk about this painting please contact me.
A wise old owl sat on an oak, the more he saw the less he spoke. The less he spoke, the more he heard. Why can’t we all be like that bird?
Original for sale, “Taste the Beauty”. It measures 24 inches by 36 inches and is on a gallery wrapped canvas, 1 1/2 inches deep, meaning it hangs nicely on the wall with no frame. It depicts renditions of poppies, hollyhocks, coreopsis, purple asters, daylilies, balloon flowers, salvias and dandelion poofs floating through the air. A spiral sun and a Henry David Thoreau quote nicely adds to the painting, “A Taste for the Beautiful is Most Cultivated out of Doors. The texture and colors on this work of art are fabulous. This is an early piece that has always been a favorite of customers and many have purchased reproductions. Please contact me if you are interested in this large mixed media painting.
