All is well, making decisions

This morning was the first sunrise that I have photographed. So, so uplifting.
This weekend Tom and Kevin took a quick trip to Detroit to Little Cesars Area to choose seats. Tom is getting a small season package for the Red Wings next year. He chose some good seats for us and I am looking forward to it. There were all kinds of things to do and they also got to tour the Redwings Clubhouse. I wondered if is smelled like a clubhouse of sweaty players and Tom said it smelled good.
I thought this was a good one. He claims he is a Blackhawks fan. Ha!
This is the time of the year where my little iris bloom. They are doubling now and are so sweet. I have a perfect small canvas that I will paint these.
These have faded some, last year they were that dark purple all over, but still so pretty.
I have been doing research on my back problem and educating myself better. Since my knee replacement my legs keep swelling, not horribly but need to keep it under control. Our doctor prescribed a diuretic to help take care of this problem. There was something in it that my body did not like, a days worth of terrible GI problems. Kicked my butt. This was the second try and my body didn’t like the different med either, rash and itching that time. I have had an echocardiagram and a EKG and all is well there, so it is not a circulation problem. I am just going to have to wear compression socks daily. I am wearing them approx. four hours per day and it has made a big difference. I have ankles again. Here are my fashionable socks that look like I’m golfing. I am going to get more and after the hip replacement they have told me to bring tight work out pants to wear because they will help with the swelling. I am also picking out my walker. I just borrowed a walker with my earlier surgery but I will need it for two surgeries now so I am doing a purchase. Do I get double wheels or singles? How heavy duty should it be? (I won’t be riding on it for gosh sakes.) Do I pay for the easy releases to fold it up quickly? Such decisions. Where I am looking they are not coming in colors, just steel color. I think pink with flowers would be nice. I would paint it but I don’t want it to chip off and look tacky.

This will take you to an explanation of my back problem and a little video. You get an extra point if you can say the word. I stumble over it but the explanation is spot on. I can see why I cannot stand up straight. I have faith it will get better.

I can’t sleep on my back or my right side, just the side with the bad hip. It doesn’t hurt, unless I turn over. The suppressed nerve makes me yell out loud in pain. I will probably have to sleep on the couch, sitting up for a few days or maybe weeks after the hip surgery. I am not supposed to bend my hip any more than 90 degrees.

My hip probably happened because I had been compensating how I walk with the bad knees. The back has been coming on for a while, but I just thought a cortisone shot once in a while would take care of it. It took an MRI and an X-Ray to discover it all.

I will be having the hip replacement on June 8th, and I will be coming home that same day if all goes as planned.

Hanging in there-how bout you?

I have a hard time concentrating and find myself wanting to watch information on the television all the time. I try not to turn the tv on in the morning because I don’t get the things done that I need to. The projections are daunting and I pray that they don’t come true. My heart breaks, I know the hospital workers are so worn down and I wish that we all could help them. But the way we do it is not to get this damn invisible thing. Stay home, social distance, wash your hands.

Last night we were sitting on the porch and I could hear a neighbor family playing and the birds chirping. We watched a robin hop around in our front garden and amazingly listen for a worm, peck into the ground and come up with one. It was the first really nice night to sit out and it was like there was nothing horrible going on out in the world. A nice respite.

I am showing you my tiny daffodil spring bloom. They are so sweet.

I worry so much about my immediate family, all three have to leave the home every day because they are deemed essential. Mixed feelings, glad they have their jobs but afraid. I had to go out yesterday to the grocery and pharmacy. I took a towel and large clothes pins rt. I wrapped the towel around the handle clipped it and put the rest in the seat and put my purse on it, and it worked well. I had to buy a lot of groceries….what if we have to quarantine and not be able to go out, plus I really don’t want to go out anymore than I need so I bought enough that should hold us for at least three weeks steadily.
The people behind me, standing behind the designated line had a cart full too. Thank you for the grocery workers, the shelves were pretty well stocked. There was some toilet paper and especially milk this time too, our favorite 1 percent. Last time there was only 2 percent and although it is good stuff I don’t like to get used to that creaminess.
The grocery store had a fair amount of people in it, but not too many to handle. What I think is interesting, people don’t like to make eye contact. It’s like if you do then you might “get it”. I have a hard time with this because I smile at everyone. It doesn’t mean that you have open your mouth. It’s a camaraderie, but I also feel that people are just worried and are hurrying through to get this job done.

I also got gas, with my Kroger points I paid $1.10 per gallon, the world is certainly upside down. I have my Bath and Body works skin sanitizer that smells so good and used that often, along with the sanitizer out at the grocery store. I have a sore spilt on my finger due to dry hands from washing and the sanitizer.

These flowers I am showing are called windflowers or I understand they are a form of anemones. I planted them last year and don’t remember the white one. They will be really beautiful when they spread but are delightful now.
Now, to wear a mask or not wear a mask. I am not going out again until I get my masks made. I have to go get some blood drawn for a medication that I take and the best place I get it done is at the hospital and then I have to go back for the doctors appointment later this month. I am getting my sewing machine out today and whipping some up. There are some with pockets for extra filters to be inserted and I believe that’s the one I will make. I thought that coffee filters might be a useful thing for the disposable filter. We had bought the wrong size, too small and I thought that cutting a corner off would make it fit well in the pocket. It has a double layer but isn’t bulky.

This picture is from this week, one of my cheery porch pics that features my art and a quilt I have. Since social distancing this is my way to reach out to walkers and drivers that come by and also use my art since all my shows have been cancelled so far. If you seen anything that you like you can purchase it from my online store.

This mornings sunrise….Friday April 3rd, 2020. I just loved the reflection on the pond. This captured the best of both, sunrise and reflection.

So I am going to make potato soup, breads, maybe some cookies. Sloppy joes, Mexican casserole off the top of my head. I am pretty well stocked and I am thankful. I asked the check out gal if she sees lots of snacks being purchased as they go down her conveyer belt and she said yes. I feel you can’t go on vacation without snacks, and you can’t go through a pandemic without snacks.

My prediction, when life gets back to a new normal we all may be a few pounds heavier and there will be many new babies after the boom named Andrew in the New York area. I do enjoy watching his steady, calm, empathetic and forthright news conferences. I also don’t think I will be so choosy about toilet paper and tissues anymore.

Take advantage of the programs that have been offered, stay safe, practice all the guidelines and I am sorry if you have been closely affected by Covid 19 and have a loved one sick or worse. We are all in this together.

I Love Sunrises

DSC_0042

The other morning I was sitting out on the porch enjoying my morning coffee and saw the sun start peeking up behind the trees.

The time was 6:08 a.m.

Good Saturday Morning!

DSC_0294

The sunrise was so pretty this morning, especially through the tree silhouettes, I just had to show you.

Last Saturday I participated in a craft show in Fort Wayne. Here is the table half of my booth. We had a fair amount of visitors but they were telling me that there were many of these shows going on that weekend. Tis the season for sure.

Then here is my display board. Again I received nice comments about my work. Sold a couple of prints and gave out my business cards.

DSC_0287

I was at an antique mall looking for an interesting display and I found this old silverware box. I may paint it or I may not and leave the scratches and character. I haven’t decided yet.

DSC_0289

I put my note-cards I made from the carved stamps in it.

DSC_0300

I sold 9 painted rocks and got orders for 3 more. I was happy with that.

This past Monday evening I met my sister and niece at the Bottle and Bottega for a mixed media paint in with some wine. I thought this wall was really cute with the paint splotches.

Here we are with our paintings. It is hard to do a masterpiece in 2.5 hours.

My sister Linda concentrating on adding some flowing hair to her lady.

DSC_0299

My sister also made some discs to put in the shower to open up nasal passages. She works with essential oils and these have lavendar, eucalyptus and rosemary in them. They smell great and I can see how it will help.

DSC_0277

Lastly, foxes are big this year and I wanted to show these really cute placements that I picked up. They are sparkly and you can kind of tell that. I was taken by the cute face of the fox. Have a great weekend and as always…Thanks for stopping!

Venus

DSC_0868

A couple of weeks ago I went outside to enjoy the pretty sunrise, I just never get tired of them. I wasn’t going to take a picture of this one because it wasn’t unusual but just the usual loveliness. The moon and bright planet Venus in the upper right corner couldn’t be ignored though. The whole package had to be shared for those of you who don’t have time to look at the sky in the morning. Thanks for stopping by.

Sky Show

DSC_0485

On Monday morning the 8th, this was the sun. I tried to get it with my phone camera but it wouldn’t get the redness so I had to run in and get my Nikon so I lost some time. It was even more brilliant than this, very captivating.

DSC_0486

Last night, I was sitting on my swing by the pond just watching these clouds and sun. There were three different areas changing and moving. It was great entertainment. It seems as if this shot should include the sound of singing angels.

DSC_0487

The cloud is changing.

DSC_0491

It is starting to look like an axe.

DSC_0492

Cool sun-rays coming from the hole in the clouds.

DSC_0497

Here is another area of clouds right in front of me. If I were knowledgeable about cloud formations I am sure there would be a special name for this one. It looks like pictures of the atomic bomb when it explodes. There were definitely storms brewing somewhere far off though.

DSC_0499

Here it is, doing it’s quick change routine.

DSC_0512

The colors and reflection off the pond.

DSC_0513

There was a lot going on out there.

DSC_0514

I had inexpensive entertainment.

DSC_0515

I am loving the graduation of color, from light to dark.

DSC_0516

This looks like a reflection through a window on the ceiling.

DSC_0517

Darkness is coming upon the area.

DSC_0518

The reflection of the colors on the windows is breathtaking.

DSC_0522

Now for the lightening show in the far off distance.

DSC_0529

I struggled for the settings to capture these, but I did something right.

DSC_0533

Timing also for the lighting is difficult. I just kept clicking the shutter.

DSC_0538

I just couldn’t get enough of it all. We hadn’t had much rain by the time I went to bed. I think this time it was just all around us. As always, I appreciate your visit.
