FALL!

Last night we had the first freeze. Last week we had 90 degrees, then it drops to 40, now we hit the freeze mark. I just love this weather!! The sun in the blue skies, The cool breeze, but we did turn on the heat for just a bit to take the chill off. Saturday I set up at A Renaissance at Roanoke Art Fair. I have to say the morning was crispy and my fingers were tingling. It was my last outdoor show of the year. Lots of good artist, good customers. The sun came out and the weather behaved. If you want to know where I will be next be sure to check my front page. I have the list there. On to my pictures, I went outside this crispy morning and snapped some pictures. One of my three catnip plants. It is on the porch so we will see if it lasts. The cats loved having some fresh catnip last night. They were all loopy, some more than others.

On the porch again. Still loving my succulents, that are just growing and growing. I don’t want to bring them in because they love that porch. But the time will come.

Our new white mums that turn a pinky shade when they start to fade. I like a little bit of white, it adds a stunning element to the landscaping.

Had some rain yesterday morning, this morning is frozen water. I put this birdbath in this spot because it is outside of my studio. Not one bird landed in it, darn it! I thought at least the hummingbirds would stop and take a drink, they are always at the catmint.

When it warms up to 55 today I wonder if the balloon flower will look as good since it was out in the garden.

Stunning raspberry colored mums.

I liked the colors of the bush changing with the sunlight. Some of my favorite colors.

I picked up three little pumpkins, a subtle yet elegant fall touch. Plus, I didn’t want to haul around big pumpkins. I stepped away from my part time job to totally focus on my art business so I listen to the television more. They spend so much on campaign commercials! My son Kevin says why don’t they tell us why we should vote for them instead of why we shouldn’t vote for the other guy. I think that makes such good sense, yeah, why don’t they? I am very excited about going to a play tonight with my friend Theresa. We are going to see The Choir of Man at the Beautiful Embassy Theater. Get a little dinner before, and it should be a great evening.

Lastly, I wrote about Barney yesterday and I am happy to say he is now up in my store. He can be purchased in three different sizes. He is a handsome owl and would look great in an owl lovers favorite spot. I also think it would look nice in an office because it has a distinguished look.

A little bit of nature

I just could not get the perfect shot of the super moon the other night. It was sure impressive!

I am sure it was operator error but this is better, though not perfect.

Last week we had some sunny and warm days before the bottom fell out. The yellow leaves of our bush were pretty with the sun shining through.

The blanket of leaves on the ground were just as pretty.

Then we had some snow on Saturday and it laying on the outdoor Christmas lights on the bushes was very pretty.

No flash makes for  another good picture.

The Beauty of the World

dsc_0011

This last weekend our neighbors asked if we would take care of their animals while they were gone. We love doing this gladly. I was walking along the side of the house and came across these beautiful flowers and thought “OH, these are so cool! To me they look like zinnias but they are candy striped.

Another one with a little different design. So gorgeous!

The neighbor on the other side has this tree that I can see out my kitchen window. Here I am showing you it framed in the mutton.

dsc_0016

For some reason it just looks so stunning from my window but I went outside and got a closeup for you.

Then further back. The day turned cooler but sunny. The humidity went away and it was so nice to be outside.

dsc_0015

During this time of the year I love it when the blue of the sky is darker and it gives the colorful trees a nice background. The farmers have gotten their crops in and the neutral colored ground is lovely.

Another set of trees with the darker blue background. Standing outside with a little breeze, the temps are nice and the smell of a wood fire somewhere. Life is good!

Midwest Changes

I took a walk today to gather leaves or other natural items to paint or carve into a stamp. The colors are starting to come out. This is a bush outside of my front door. It was so pretty with the sun shining on it.

My burning bush is all changed and losing the leaves. Closeup of the its berries.

It’s breezy today, our flags are standing up nicely.

A wall of yellow and green.

The sun must shine on that spot.

Blue sky, the tree in the middle is just not going to change yet.

Pretty red mums.

I have watched these pinecones when they first came on to the tree, and then they grew and were green and now they have matured.

The squirrels are busy. The farmers almanac says we are going to have a lot of snow this winter, it seems as if the squirrels know it too. They were very active this morning, running all around and chirping at me as I walked by.

Another kind of ornamental grass.

My sweet potato vine has been blooming this last couple of weeks. They look like small petunias. It was kind of a nice surprise. Hope that you have a lot of pretty nature where you are at.
